Decline in Lion Numbers
'Wild' lion in Africa decreased over the last centuary in population numbers from an estimated 1,2 million to the current declining 15,000 to 20,000.
Loss of Habitat Range
Due to habitat destruction, development & human conflict - lions' natural habitat range decreased with more than 97% over the last few decades.
Less Lions than Rhinos
Since 2018 there are now LESS lions than rhinos in the 'wild' in Africa!!!
8,500+ Lions Doomed
SA Government's approved 2024 policy on captive lions means more than 80% of SA's lions will be terminated!
Extinction of Lions
